Busy, busy, busy

It has been a whirlwind the past couple of weeks. I am trying to be better about blogging, I am making a goal for myself to post atleast once a week. Than I decided that you can't force inspiration and I will post when I post. So here I am about 2 weeks later. Sorry.
A couple of weekends ago, Shane and I headed up to Burlingame on Saturday for his family reunion. It was about a 2 hour drive in the Jeep, very lovely. Once we got into town we headed to Casey's for some beverages and as we drove by Shane commented that he didn't see anyone hanging out at the park, which was unusual. While I was sitting in Casey's parking lot, Shane's cousin and her family came out of the store and gave me an odd look. I did a quick once over of myself to make sure I was decent and asked her what's up. She than asked me what we were doing in Burlingame, 2 hours from home on this weekend. I replied it is reunion weekend. Amanda laughed and said sorry honey, it is next weekend. I was mortified. I had verbally verified the date on 2 seperate occasions, but never once did I actually look at the newsletter to confirm. So to make a long story short, Shane and I took about 4 hours to come home, driving thru all the little towns laughing and giggling. It turned out to be one of the better weekends we have had in a long time.

So this past weekend. We repeated the process, took the two hour drive back to Burlingame on Saturday morning and had a wonderful couple of days. On Saturday, we ended up at his uncle's house to visit with all the brothers and sisters. For those of you who don't know, Shane's mom is one of 22. I believe there are currently 13 that are living and 6 of them were there that night. It was a typical Griffin get together, Lots of food, socializing and Griffin antics.

This is as close as Uncle Dale would let me get to driving his car

Sunday was actually the reunion. This year they did a picnic in the park, it was nice. Again lots of food, lots of people and lots of Griffin antics. The unsuspecting new brides were "inducted" into the family via the pop bottle launcher, the kids had a hillbilly contest and ended with a water fight of their own. Always a good time.

Isabella isn't as cute as a hillbilly...looks too much like her uncle Leon? =)

22 kids?!?!?! is that really possible? NO. WAY! ONE woman gave birth to 22 children? Is she in the Guiness Book of World Records?!!?!

  2. 2 women gave birth to 22 children. The first wife had 6 kids and the second 16 kids, I think. All of them had the same father.
