Resolution update

We are half way through the year and you MUST be wondering how I am coming along with my goal for the year. As you might recall, I decided to not make a resolution, in the hopes that I might actually complete the task. My goal for the year was to get all my pictures digitized.

So after researching the products out there and talking to others that have utilized them I bought a digitizer. It was a Pandigital, able to scan up to a 5x7 inch photo and portable enough that it could fit in my lap top bag. Sounds perfect, I might actually get this accomplished. I got it home, set it up, ran it through all the tests and calibrations. . . and it was crap. Each duplicated picture had lines running through the center of it. At first, I thought the condition of the scanned photo was secondary to the original being an older, grainer photo. So I tried a newer photo with the same results. Very frustrating.

As a result, at this time I am at a stand still. Still not keen on the idea of sending my original pictures away to be scanned, but frustrated enough that I am not sure that I want to try another machine.

So for the time, I will continue with my research, which is another way to say I will continue to procrastinate.

  1. If you're nervous to send your photos away (and I completely understand that) and you strike out on scanners I have a local suggestion. Albeit pricey, DPI (or Douglas Photographic Imaging) is a place in Wichita that does professional-grade work and as far as I know it's all done in-house. You could also check with City Blue Print or Kansas Blue Print to see if they offer such services. Just a thought...it sure would save you lots of time and time IS money after all. =)

...I need to do/would like to do the same thing...with some of Curt's family's old SLIDES (of all things).
