The old man still has it

Shane was very disappointed earlier in the week. He was told that his first game with the Diamondbacks, which he has been really looking forward to, had been canceled. The cancellation was on his teams part secondary to not having their uniforms in yet. On Friday he got a call, the other team had pre-sold tickets and still wants to play.They were willing to allow the Diamondbacks to wear their away jerseys if they will come and play.
So on Saturday morning we all piled into the Jeep, Shane, Matt, Coach Tommy, little Tommy and me and we headed to Manhattan. Expectations were high, large numbers of people, decent field, but it was a joke. They ended up playing on a practice field. Surprisingly though, the Diamondbacks were able to pull together a mildly cohesive unit.

Regulation ended with the game tied at 20. Shane was brought onto the field to kick a 45 yard field goal in overtime. He made it with approx 10 yards to spare. Now I know I am biased, but for a 36 year old man, he does pretty damn good and I predict a 50 yarder by the end of the season. Unfortunately, it was college rules and the other team got the ball back and scored a touchdown. The diamondbacks ended up losing in overtime 26 - 23, not bad for their first game as a team.
