It is that time of year again, we are heading to Ohio. It has been really nice, that last few trips, Shane has decided to go with me. This trip we are also taking Matt with us. Our plan for the first leg of the trip originally was to drive to St. Charles, Missouri on Saturday and watch the Diamondbacks play a game, stay over night and finish the rest of the trip into Michigan on Sunday. Fortunately for us, the football game was canceled and we drove to the north side of St Louis and stayed for the night. The trip that far was fairly easy, I was able to stretch out in the back seat and zone out with a book. While the boys jammed out to Metallica, Pantera, Slayer and Johnny. I know, Johhny doesn't really fit there, but it is more to give my ears a break every once in a while. That evening we had dinner at Smokey Bones and visited Long Island, it was a nice little trip. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone.
After destroying Shane and Matt in Dominoes and having a good nights rest we got on the road again. This last stretch is always difficult for me, we only had 6 hrs left, but it felt like 12. I'll admit I got a little cranky when Shane suggested we take a little 2 hour detour to drive through Chicago instead of passing south of it so Matt could see the city, but in the end everything was ok. We did bring a bit of a storm with us the last hour of the drive, but again in the end everything was ok. When we finally pulled into the drive, there were three little girls standing in the bay window waving frantically with big smiles, it made the last 6 hours well worth it.
We had a wonderful end to the day, mom, dad, Ape, Seth, Jessie, Dakota, Payton, Shane, Matt and I sat down to a wonderful dinner and afterwards we took a cruise around the lake in the boat.
Great shots...and I can't believe how grown up Jessie is!!! She's practically a teenager! :'( It goes by way too fast.
